Durável LBA™ (Liquid Bonding Agent) is a professional-grade primer engineered to significantly improve the bond between existing concrete substrates and any cementitious overlays, repair mortars, or decorative coatings. Whether you’re resurfacing a driveway, patio, pool deck, or commercial floor, applying LBA prior to overlay ensures structural integrity, longevity, and consistent performance.
Why Use Durável LBA
-
Enhanced adhesion and bond strength — LBA ensures that overlays, repair mortars, or decorative coatings adhere firmly to porous concrete, reducing the risk of delaminations or failures.
-
Ready-to-use and contractor-friendly — no mixing required. Stir or shake the contents, then apply directly by sprayer, roller, or brush.
-
Extended working time — LBA slows the hydration of subsequent overlays or mortars, giving contractors more working time and greater control over application.
-
Low-VOC, low-odor formulation — with VOC content under 10 g/L, LBA is more pleasant for applicators and suitable for projects sensitive to odors or emissions.
-
Versatile usage — ideal for prime-coating prior to overlays such as stamped overlays (e.g. SOM), thin or trowel overlays, repair mortars (e.g. TRM), or textured overlays on very porous or aged surfaces.
LBA Typical Uses
-
Bonding agent for stamped, thin, or trowel-applied overlays over existing concrete
-
Primer for repair mortars to resurface, patch, or rebuild damaged concrete slabs, ramps, or steps
-
Surface preparation before applying decorative coatings or stains on porous concrete
-
Use on both residential and commercial concrete projects
Liquid Bonding Agent Application Guidelines
-
Surface prep: Ensure substrate is clean, profiled, and free of dust, debris, oil, or contaminants as per the selected overlay or mortar’s instructions.
-
Agitate before use: Stir or shake well to re-disperse any separated components.
-
Apply LBA: Use a pump-up sprayer, paint roller, or brush to apply a thin, uniform coat. Avoid ponding or heavy buildup; back-roll or brush out any excess to prevent bond failures.
-
Dry/tack time: Overlays, mortars, or coatings may be installed after about 30 minutes once LBA is tacky or dry — but no more than 24 hours after application; after 24 h, re-apply if needed.
-
Temperature limits: Apply only when ambient and substrate temperatures are between 45 °F (7 °C) and 90 °F (32 °C). Do NOT apply if substrate is damp or frozen.
-
Coverage: Approximately 150–200 ft² per gallon, depending on substrate porosity. It’s recommended to test a small area first to determine actual coverage.
Packaging & Storage
-
Available in 1-gallon jugs and 5-gallon pails.
-
Shelf life: Up to one year from manufacture when stored sealed in a cool, dry place at room temperature.
-
Storage temperature should be between approximately 41 °F and 95 °F (5–35 °C), and containers should be protected from direct sunlight, freezing, or heat.
Safety & Handling
According to the Safety Data Sheet, Durável LBA is not classified as hazardous under OSHA HazCom standards. The product is a milky liquid with a mild odor, and normal precautions such as adequate ventilation, protective gloves, and eyewear are recommended.
Clean up of tools, sprayers, or rollers should be done with soap and water immediately after use.
